Sunday 4th - Tuesday 6th December
I have just been on a two day sailing trip around the Whitsundays. The Boomerang boat was filled with about 28 people in I'd say quite a small cosy sailing boat. The boat was an open plan layout with bunk beds around the edge of the boat on the bottom deck with a kitchen and a table in the middle. The bunk beds were pretty difficult to get into and out of, I felt like I was sleeping in a cave, if I lifted my head I would smack it on the ceiling which I did many times! (as I also keep doing in the hostels I stay in too)
The day we got to the boat it was pouring with rain and we were all thinking this trip would be pretty miserable, but the crew were pretty cool and willing to make the most of it with us. We took our bags onto the boat, got into our bikinis and rain coats and sat on deck to prepare for sailing. When I booked onto this boat I had no idea it was an actual sailing boat so it was a bit of a surprise when we were all chipping in to get the sails up and then hold on for dear life onto the railings of the boat, as when it sailed it tipped pretty steep!
We went to several snorkelling destinations, saw some pretty cool brightly coloured coral and some pretty fish, we also went to Whitehaven Beach which would have been paradise if the sun was shining but nevertheless the sand was still soft and beautifully white. We also had parties both nights on the boat, playing drinking games such as ring of fire and dancing until early hours of the morning.
