So here I am in Goteberg (Gothenberg), Sweden... ALONE! Yes, I know I´m such a rebel. I am finally doing what I have been dreaming of since I arrived here, travling alone. I decided to come here yesterday morning because I knew I had a three day weekend I figured why not go somewhere? haha so I bought a train ticket and here I am. My friend Daeun, from Korea, actually came with me for the day. She has a Eurail pass and it was free for her to come on the train, so she came with me for the day, then just left me when I got to the hostel. We left Vaxjo this morning at 10:15 or so, and got here around 1:30. It was my first trian ride ever! And it went well! Good thing Daeun was there with me because I would have been so lost when we arrived in Goteberg. It is a beautiful city, besides it being cloudy and rainy today. We decided to see two museums, one with art from 1851- the present and the other called "Universeum," kind of like the Science Museum back home. The first was very cool, with objects gathered from as far back as 1851 and showing the transition of Sweden to a more urbanised lifestyle in teh 1900´s to the present. It was really nice and I enjoyed looking at all the tools/furniture/tableware that was used a few hundred years ago. The second museum was AWESOME! I had so much fun there and I felt like a little kid again! It was kind of like the Science Museum, we got to see marine life, a rainforest, and then got to be kids again and played with all the scienc-ey experimenty stuff! I took a lot of pictures and had a really fun time there. After that we walked back towards the train station to eat... They had a Hard Rock Cafe here! I was so surprised! We went to eat there but Coat Check was 20 SEK so we left! haha. Too expensive and we are too cheap! haha. So we decided to eat at a small cafe and each had Bolognese Pasta. Delicioso! Then Daeun walked me to my hostel and here I am. I am in a "dormitory" with 12 other people. It is an all female room and I guess only 3 or 4 girls will be sleeping there tonight. I hope to get a good nights sleep too. Tomorrow I want to see a few churches here and some old subarbs of Gothenburg. No museums are open so it will be all walking for me. That is fine. I also want to walk through a nearby park and just relax. The malls are very close to the train station too so maybe I will bum around there for a bit. It seems as though Mondays are rather slow in Sweden so not a lot of shops will be open. I am glad I am finally doing a trip on my own, even if it is just in Sweden. Hopefully next time it will be to Kiruna, the northernmost city in Sweden, or Copenhagen by myself! That is all for now... Wish me luck on my own!
