So I arrived in Noosa around midday today, decided to go for a more expensive hostel which had more things included - unlimited free internet, I'm in my element! Haha. I've also managed to upload some of my photos onto Facebook, so have a look if you want :)
Anyway, my few days on the Fraser Coast in Hervey Bay were pretty amazing (just like everywhere else I've been so far!) I booked myself onto a 2 day 1 night tour on the island. I was contemplating just doing the 1 day trip to save money as I've been spending it like crazy out here! But I was told it's not worth just going for the day and that was so true!
I woke up early the next day and was picked up from my hostel and taken to the marina where we caught the ferry across to the island. We got straight into the tour that day. Jumped into our 4x4 vehicle and had a very bumpy journey through the trees around the island. We went to a couple of the lakes, including the famous Lake McKenzie which was pretty amazing. The water was so blue and lovely. We chilled out there for a bit then had a lovely lunch. The first day was pretty much seeing the inner islands and the lakes etc, which was nice, but the second day was just so much better.
We started off by jumping into the 4x4 and driving down the beach. Was amazing. I sat in the front seat, so got some great views! We also saw a dingo on the beach, so that was good!! We then stopped off briefly at a place called Eli creek, it was completely mobbed with people, so we carried on going. On route to the next stop, we saw a couple of planes on the beach, a few of us decided to take a tour of the island by plane, absolutely amazing!! We took off and landed on the beach which was cool in itself. Flew over the sea and around parts of the island. The lakes looked amazing from above! I also got to sit upfront with the pilot - I quickly shotgunned that one!!
We carried on going up the beach and stopped off at a place called Indian Heads. We climbed up a big rock and stood over the edge, was quite dangerous actually, but we got some amazing views up there! Took some photos, took in the views and walked back down and head to a place called Champagne Pools. We weren't quite sure where it got it's name from, so we were all quite intrigued, but once we got there...it still didn't click! Haha. It was a pretty random name as all it was, was a big rock pool by the sea, it was really nice to get into the water after a really hot and sticky day! Someone made a joke that they were waiting for someone to bring us glasses of champagne whilst we were relaxing in the water! After resting there for a little bit, we had lunch and went back to Eli Creek where it was a lot less crowded and spent the afternoon there.
That night, we all had a nice dinner together at the "Dingo Bar" and half of the group, including myself were leaving that night to catch the ferry back to the mainland. I was so, so tired by this point, but managed to get back to my hostel in Hervey Bay by about 10pm....Then ended up skyping and wasn't in bed until about midnight anyway!
So now I am in Noosa, haven't really seen too much of it yet as the hostel I am in is pretty far out. But From here onwards I just plan to relax on the beach, chill out and take it as it comes. I'm going to Australia Zoo tomorrow (the Steve Irwin one) which I'm really excited about. Although, it seems my camera has broken which is very annoying! So I will be missing out on photos of that tomorrow :(
