So...I'm finally in Australia! Feels so strange leaving the group behind in Bangkok and going off on my own. But I made it, I'm here in Cairns and despite my worries, the weather is great and is apparantly set to stay this way! It's so, so hot!
My last few days in Bangkok were nice and pretty chilled. After taking an overnight train from Chiang Mai into Bangkok, we checked into our finishing hotel which was lovely. I had a guilty pleasure day of pretty much sleep, films, long shower and room service! It was great. Definitely needed to chill out for a bit! And we were all going out that night so I wanted to be up and awake for our last dinner and night out. We all had a good night together that night. Had a lovely dinner and went to a roof top bar which had some live acoustic music which was really nice. The drinks were really expensive, but the atmosphere was just so chilled and it was a nice place for us all to be on our last night.
The goodbyes were once again, sad. It's just so strange saying goodbye to people you've spent pretty much nearly 24/7 with for a whole month. Now being alone in Cairns it definitely feels weird not having them around, but I definitely am looking forward to the adventure on my own.
On my final day in Bangkok, we had to check out of our nice hotel :( and do it back-packer style!! Me and two of the other girls who were also staying on, trapsed around Kausan Road (the main back-packer street) in the absolute unbearable heat with our heavy bag trying to find somewhere to stay. We eventually settled on a triple room which was 100 bhatt each, ridiculously cheap. But it literally was just 3 beds in a room with a window. We weren't planning on spending any time in the room anyway, literally just to sleep. So it was fine. Plus, I have to get used to that standard of accomodation!!
Now, after a long day of travelling, I'm in Cairns. I'm loving Australia. Everyone is really friendly, one thing I'm not loving is how bloody expensive it is! I may not be eating for the month...just so I can do everything I want! Haha.
I've booked up a day of snorkelling and one introductory dive tomorrow...on THE GREAT BARRIER REEF! it feels all so surreal! I really cannot wait. The day includes breakfast and lunch...and wine?! Haha. So it should be a really good day. I'm so excited. I hope I don't get eaten by sharks.
Anyway, now I'm off to talk one of the travel agents who is going to help me arrange my trip down the East Coast :)
