I haven't really managed to update my blog for a while and a lot has happened since, I'm sure. (Not that I can remember everything!)
So I spent an uneccesary 5 days in Wellington, went to the Te Papa museum and met up with a friend from Sydney...pretty much all I did there..it was pretty boring! By this point, I was pretty fed up about being on my own and decided to join up with the Kiwi Experience, which I guess is pretty much a tour group which takes you over the country. I was really happy to finally be with a group of people again. I mean, I had met people in hostels etc, but people move on and it was nice to be with a group of people for longer than a day! We had 64 people on our bus...so it was pretty cool meeting a new person each day!
Took a really scenic ferry ride from Wellington over to Picton on the South Island which was actually so amazing! We saw dolphins jumping up by the side of the ferry - really cool!
So, we worked our way down from Nelson, to Westport, then Franz Josef, where we did the Glacier walk. I'd been feeling pretty sick all the week to be honest and I was worried that the walk would be a big struggle (it was pretty hard, but I managed it!) We witnessed a helicopter rescue and a small avalance! Pays off to be in the slow group and last off the glacier!
Then we head to Wanaka which was absolutely beautiful, amazing surroundings. Didn't do too much there to be honest as I was so tired and again, had a bit of a dodgy stomach, so slept throughout the day and night whilst most people went out.
Now, I'm in Queenstown where I will be untill Tuesday when I fly back up to Auckland. It's really nice down here. Again, the scenery is pretty spectacular! The mountains are snowcapped, the lake is beautiful and we're pretty much smack bang in the middle of town so there's a lot to keep occupied with. A few of the group did the 3rd biggest bungy jump in the world ...134m, which I didn't actually think was too high..untill I saw their videos! I was terrified! I wish I had the courage to be able to do it!! I really do!
So, the past few nights we've been out as it's been a different person's last night! With 64 people on a bus..it's going to be someone's last night every night! So it's pretty hard to keep up! But tonight I'm having a night of! :)
