Perth is the most remote capital city in the world, the second sunniest and the third most windy. I've got three more days here.....
This will be the last entry from the west coast of Australia as on Thursday I head back east Brissy, Townsville and Lennox head. The last few weeks have been pretty hetic with organising and packing which I'll be relieved to see the end of and get down to travelling. The plan is simple for the next few months, on June 8th I head to Fiji for a week and then onto Hawaii for two weeks alternating between the Big Island, Kauai and Oahu. After this its mainland US where I join a tour group through the western national parks - I'm a bit worried about doing a tour thing as I like my freedom but doing the sums I can't do it myself anywhere near as cheaply. After a month of this I'm off to western Canada to do something very similar which will keep me busy until the end of August. In early September my US visa runs out and I expect to find myself in Mexico. No plans so far but I'll probably find a nice little mountain village and put in a concerted effort to learn Spanish, while using Mexico (and there very liberal visa laws) to explore central America and the caribean. Well that's the plan...
I took a day trip out to Rottnest island yesterday, hired a bike rode around from beach to beach. I throughly enjoyed the day, despite not seeing a Quokka. I was a bit dissapointed at this but at least if I have a political career won't be plagued by allegations in 'inappropiate Quokka touching'. Its amazing how places such as this exist less than half-an-hour trip from where you live but you never seem to find the time to visit (until you're leaving). If you're coming to perth make sure you go to Rottnest for a day!
