15th February 2007 - After spending 2 months back in Europe for Xmas and New Year, i have decided to start on a second trip around the world!
and this time, i flew the overway round to my first stop Hong-Kong! for 5 days stopover!
i got very lucky as it happens to be the Chinese New Year celebration weekend for the Year of the Pig! (which is my year btw) - After a 13 hours flight, i landed in Hong-Kong and took train and taxi to my hotel which was very well located in the Central area.
i spent 5 days walking around, and absorbing the atmosphere like i love to do - not running around to do as much as i can though but still seeing a lot! went to the Flower market on Victoria Park were a big crowd of parents and kids were purchasing flowers and toys in preparation for the Big Chinese New Year! then next day, i lost myself through the shopping streets in waiting of the amazing Cathay Pacific New Year Parade with dancers and Dragons... it was unbelievable... and so well organised! had to wait until the next evening for the firework display which are superbs! unfortunately for myself, the police keepk moving us around and when it started i was behing a tall building not being able to see a lot... so i went back to the hotel and watch it on TV! LOL I also went to Victoria Peak for a great view of the city, took the Tram up to the hill which is so steep, and spent few hours until sun set...
The central part of Hong Kong is built on an island and has so many high and narrow buildings, that it looks like dominos! most of them being illuminated at night which gives such a nice spectacle. They even have an outdoor escalator to allow people to go up and down this steep building area! that made my life easier as my hotel was quite high on the hill.
Hong Kong is a place i really liked, to the point i spent my 5 days there as i decided not to go to visit Macau - a city full of Casino (it will have to be another time) - Despite the city being so busy, i felt really at ease to travel and never felt stressed with it all. I was even surprised at how Hong Kong is managing to keep such an independent position from mainland China! they have CNN on TV which you couldnt see in Beijing... it must be due to some agreed terms with the british following the handover of 1993.
Anyway, on 20th February, i took the express ferry boat that would take me to Macau in order for me to catch my flight to meet my beloved man who had gone back to the Philippines - in Clark.
