Today we had an easy but long run. The weather was perfect; the lock was ready and opened for us as we approached, and the dock at Shellmound had space for all of us. Dan and Cherri (Cherri Baby) have joined us as we travel with Kay Dee to Chattanooga.

As we passed the bluff where Nick & Ginger live, we tried to spot their house, but we could not see any houses in the trees. They were able to see us, and took pictures. Later Nick told us to that even knowing right where the house is, it is almost impossible to spot.

As we exited the lock, we had to pass through a very dense and deep patch of see grass and debris. The patch was jammed between the lock approach walls and there was no way around it. At one point it was so bad I was not able to steer.

Shellmound free dock is right past the lock and is owned by TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority). It is adjacent to the Shellmound campground and boat ramp. There was not much to do or see here but we did go for a bike ride. After running for 3 days at Goose Pond, it is good to have a "down" day.

Tomorrow we will be heading to Chattanooga. The weather forecast is gnarly to say the least. Mostly rain with 20mph plus winds. It will not be a fun day.
