The run from Riverwalk to Ditto Landing was another beautiful day. We started later then we normally do, but we are only traveling 24 miles today. When we did get underway we could see that the leaves are just starting to show hints of changing colors. We passed several flocks of pelicans in the middle of their migration south for the winter.
Ditto Landing is in Huntsville AL, and Ginger's (Ginger Gale) brother (Jimmy) lives here. We are also very close to Nick & Ginger's home port of Goose Pond AL. Ginger had a full two days planned for us. She arranged for both a truck for her and Nick and a car for Kay Dee and us.
We started our busy schedule by going to Stone Middle School. Jimmy attended Stone Middle School many years ago, only it is no longer a middle school. Stone Middle School is now the 805 Center, a premiere entertainment center with two local breweries, several bars, axe throwing, conference center, dance studio and several offices. The music room is now a "speak easy" that can only be accessed if you know it is there and by moving a bank of school lockers aside. We also went axe throwing.
Thursday we started our day with a southern breakfast at Gibson's BBQ before splitting up for the day. Nick & Ginger had errands to run and stuff to unload from their boat. Mark & Karen (Kay Dee) and Angel & I went to the Huntsville Space & Rocket Center. The Space & Rocket Center was very interesting but slightly disappointing. There were to many attractions within the Space & Rocket center that were an additional fee. In addition to that most of the signs on the outdoor exhibits were so weathered you could not read them.
The highlight of Huntsville was going to Jimmies house for dinner. Jimmy does BBQ both as a caterer and in competitions. The pulled pork was out of this world, and the ribs were by far the best ribs I have ever tasted. We can not thank Jimmy and his wife Emily enough for their hospitality.
Friday we will be leaving Ditto Landing Marina and anchoring out just past the Guntersville Lock. It will be a short travel day.
