We got into Vientiane, the capital of Laos. I decided to tale a stroll into the city, BIG mistake !! I was wondering why some locals were sticking big umbrellas by the roadside... Then I realised as I got caught up in a tropical thunderstorm! I took shelter under the nearest umbrella and got chatting to the dozen locals that were also there, having a syndicate when the rain would stop! It stopped after 45 minutes, and I decided to head back to base after a cafe retreat. I was so tired I ended up having a 15 hour sleep, missing out on the boat race and local festivities! Woke up bright and fresh the next day where we would be on our way to a jungle campsite! We swam in the river and as we walked through the jungle on the way back we encountered a snake and literally scarpered the other way!! We finally made it back to camp where a bamboo barbecue dinner was awaiting us... It was delicious! The next day we did something very bizarre, we cruised on a river in boats made out of bombs! We arrived in Kong Lor where the 7km cave was awaiting us. We got motorised canoes and motored along inside the cave for an unbelievable experience. On the way back, we hit a bunch of rocks and the canoe capsized, leaving us in a bit of a frenzy! However the guides didn't panic and after seeing us to safety and emptying the canoe we continued until the end.
