Breakfast & scool work, then packed car whilst kids played in the campsite's playground. Short drive to beach car park and the "Long Finned Eel" bridge, where a camera crew were photographing a girl running along the beach, with Lion Rock in the background. Walked along beach and climbed Lion Rock to the lookout (a bit scary in places!), then walked the Tasman Lookout Track, overlooking The Gap & Taitomo Island. Glorious day - very sunny!
Then drove to Glen Esk Road car park to walk through the bush to Kitekite Falls. M slipped on the wet rocks at the falls, and soaked her trousers! Circular walk back to the car park, where we ate our packed lunch.
Decided to head north, so followed the Twin Coasts Discovery Highway. Stopped at a café near Topuni, and the lady there suggested Waipu as a good place to spend the night. Nice, large cabin at the Waipu Cove Holiday Camp ($160 for 2 nights) double bed & bunks. Right by the beach, good (shared) cooking facilities, free BBQ, noisy teenagers!
