Ok I thought we could nip this in the bud and all would be ok without putting news out there that adds complexity to the already precarious, confusing condition of the world today.
I have an inflammation in my right eye and was advised by my Atlanta eye doctor not to fly until given the ok. Air pressure in the plane could cause additional problems. We immediately went to the emergency room at Clinica Santa Maria.
I was thoroughly examined, tested and treated Friday with return visits Saturday and Sunday. My care was exceptional. Simply exceptional!
My vision is much better now, and we think it will fully recover in a few days. And the good news: we now have the ok to fly. We have tickets for Tuesday night, arriving on Wednesday morning.
Please forgive me for not sharing sooner. I just didn't want to cause undue worries. Good grief, there are worries a-plenty now.
As in many places in the USA, everything is shut tight here. This once busy city now looks like a ghost town. Restaurants, Starbuck's and other fancy coffee shops, bars, pizza joints, and ice cream shops that sit side-by-side filling each and every city block, are now shuttered. Street vendors selling empanadas, sandwiches, fresh squeezed fruit juices, toasted nuts and virtually anything a person might desire, are gone. Protesters, normally active at all times but particularly each weekend, are on the streets no longer. This city and Chile as a whole has taken the Coronavirus threat seriously. I respect their quick, decisive action and the peoples' response with strict adherence to health guidelines.
Our task today and tomorrow will be to remain inside, get ourselves ready for home, watch the news, watch a little Netflix and give each other hugs.
Before the city's shut down, I took a few more photos of the graffiti . . . just because. I found translations for some of the messages. I will share some of those intriguing, powerful messages presented in sometimes beautiful art in the photos section. I pray, of course, for all people as we all go through this trying time of Covid-19, but I also will have prayers for the people of Chile. They do need reform. When the current serious concern for health is over, and it will be someday, I pray they can find a way to make a new constitution in a rational, non-violent manor.
God bless us all.

Kay G Outlaw I would have worried about your eye, and I will continue to pray for your and Stan’s safety until you are in Atlanta Airport! I’m glad the protesters did not stay in the streets. That would have unnerved me. Please take care. Times are uncertain.
Nancy Get home safely
Carol Worsinger Sorry about your eye and glad things are getting better. It is really good to hear what is happening with you and Stan. Safe travels.
Katie Grabill Looking forward to the message that you are back home safely
Karly Be safe and get home when you are able!! There is not much to do around here but go to the grocery store!!
Mary Glad you are able to fly tomorrow. Also happy to hear that Chileans are taking the virus seriously. Sadly here, there are younger folks (and some older) who are having coronavirus parties and/or Ignoring the orders of the state. Mayor of Atl wants to shut down the city with a stay at home order and the governor may beat her to it, so please get back here soon!
Nancy Dzuibakowski so glad you are well. Have a safe flight. Be safe in the airports. I sure they are a mad house and the most dangerous place to be.
