After finishing our Patagonia tour, we took a Via Bariloche bus from Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazu (18 hours overnight). Via Bariloche was recommended to us, and we agree that it is really good. We paid 20% less than the price advertised on the website, which I think was for paying cash. You get a comfy reclinable seat (almost reclining flat) and we were served dinner and drinks. Lights were off at 10.30pm and we slept until 8am, only waking up a few times during the night. A night's accommodation successfully saved!
Puerto Iguazu was really hot and humid - around 40 degrees. We walked around the town and found it was nothing special. With an attraction like Iguassu Falls only 30 minutes outside of town though, the town itself doesn't really need anything else to draw people in. Our view of the town is probably somewhat biased though because we both got sick here.
Iguassu Falls is spectacular. It feels like a themepark as everyone lines up eagerly to buy their ticket to the National Park and then you get on a small train to the first section of trails that winds through the park. The falls are so powerful - such a huge amount of water gushing at incredible speed. Like Perito Moreno Glacier, it's hard to comprehend its massive size. The falls are surrounded by lush greenery and as you watch the birds flying overhead, you feel like you're in a nature documentary. The walkways go near enough to the falls for you to get a decent spray, which we did willingly to escape the intense heat of the day. We only spent half a day there because Rianna still wasn't feeling great, but it was enough to be blown away by this incredible natural wonder of the world.
