Hello all!
Lovely to FaceTime mum, smell and Vic the other day! Hope you've enjoyed your weekend together! Well done grandad for the wardrobes! Sounds like an adventure Paul.
Just a quick update from Sucre before I get the bus to Uyini tomorrow at 7am- I hope to get on a tour of the salt flats for the next day and then finish the tour in Chile, but don't think there'll be much internet while on the 4 day tour. I'm getting the bus with a Swiss guy Kevin, always nice to know you won't be the only gringo. We have to be there for 6.30am so I won't be enjoying the drink all you can beer for £5 in the hostel tonight!
So I have had my spanish classes at 3.30 every day and so my days have revolved around them and also doing my homework and writing up all my notes.
Wednesday I went for lunch with the Hungarian and Dutch girl to the vege cafe. In the evening there were free salsa lessons in the bar, but I was a geek and went to bed to finish my book- And the mountains echoed by the author of the kite runner. A very enjoyable book, but a slightly disappointing end.
Thursday I had the mammoth breakfast then revised and done homework. Had a lovely, hot, powerful shower :) Headed to the market for lunch and had the most amazing fruit salad off one of the stalls. After my spanish lesson I went to play volleyball with lots of the people from our spanish school. It was really good fun, although the Aussies put us all to shame! Back in the hostel I sat in the bar with a few people I've got to know.
Friday was another nice brekkie, revision and then lunch at a different vege restaurant. I joined a table of Aussies and enjoyed a 3 course meal and drink for £2!! Bargain!! Spanish was good, but ever more confusing. My brain is not quick enough for languages! Afterwards it was Oktoberfest in our German themed hostel. So the hostel was packed and they had a little dance show- Bolivians dressed as Germans dancing German style?! Then it turned into a disco. I've got to know lots of peeps here, so we sat chatting until late. I wasn't drinking so I went to bed about 11 and tried to sleep through the disco!
Saturday- after breakfast, me and a German girl had agreed to go for a run. So we headed out and run for a while, although it was tough- I'm losing my fitness and the altitude was tough on the old lungs. But the German suffered far more than me and so we had to keep stopping. We come across a basketball court and two, local teenage lads playing basketball, so we joined them! It was so much fun- random things like this are what make the trip special! Haha! We couldn't really communicate and the German let me down with her asthma, but we played first to 15 and they beat us 15-14!!! Ggrrrr! We attempted to run back but it was uphill and the streets fairly busy! Back at the hostel me and an Aussie girl had said about going for a massage, so we headed out to find a place. Our original place was shut but we found one over the road that offered a shoulder and back massage for £5! It was lush- possibly the best I've ever had- except yours of course Vic! But they had a heat lamp which was unique and it was very relaxing!
We mooched back and I enjoyed another heavenly shower! Me, the Hungarian and a Swiss dude decided to go for lunch to the vege place I went to yesterday. Again, it didn't disappoint!! We joined a table with a local lady on, because it was so busy! I had to do my spanish homework and the local lady helped me conjugate my irregular verbs! Again another special moment- cheating on your homework with a local!
I headed to my last lesson, which was good but although I now know grammar and a bit more vocab, I am no good at understanding or speaking. Practice, practice, practice!
I went to the market and bought gloves, hat, socks and jumper ready for cold Uyini. I also had my final amazing fruit salad- sad times. Back in the hostel I've packed and chilled. Will go to the bar later!
My money got paid into my account thanks mum! And I got paid £250 from wetherspoons two days ago too! Bonus! Must be my holiday pay! So that was a nice extra £900 I wasn't expecting! I dreamt last night that I woke up at home and I couldn't understand why I'd decided to go home! I was gutted and desperately trying to find a flight back- haha! I guess I'm not homesick yet. Meeting too many nice people to mention!
Hope you're all well! Keep me updated! Take care!

Paul My shoulders are aching and my back's twingeing (too much time down the gym, Alex!). Auntie Vic, when are you free? They say you can only take on so many new bits of information each day, Alex. I don't remember the number but it's pretty low. A 4 hour Spanish lesson must be full of new info. To hear that your no good at either understanding or speaking was funny; doesn't that simply mean your no good at Spanish! Lol. I'm sure I'd be even worse. My terrible school grades at both French and German (it was 'O' levels back then) attest to that!
Paul What was that? Lovely to face time mum and smell Auntie Vic? I know my pc's old but I didn't realise IT had progressed quite that far yet!
Auntie vic Hewwwwo we are home!! Had a fantastic time with sopho and benny. Felt really at home and couldn't have been made more welcome in their gorgeous new house. Saw the sights and hit the shops!! FaceTime is my new favourite thing ever!!! Me and mum said we will do it again. Yours was pink FaceTime!! Ha ha ha my massaging days are long since passed so have more while your there. Sounds like your meeting some lovely people on your travels how lovely. Hope the salt flaps are amazing. Love you lots xxxxxxxx
Auntie vic Back to work back to reality...... Just phoned mum and dad said she's gone to see Shakespeare? I wasn't expecting that! It's turned into winter today. Hope alls good at the salt flaps xxx
Smell Hello sister! Was lovely to FaceTime you, very jealous of your tan!! It is actual arctic weather here, not fun!! It seems that it's all go and you're still finding lots of lovely people and reasonably priced food! Vic was very excited about the salt flaps!! Looking forward to seeing all of the pictures, Benny says it's very good! Loved having Mumma and Vic up at the weekend, many charity shops were visited and I have a new Christmas decoration and photo frame!!! Let us all know how the flats were! Benny say ola! Love u xx xx
Mum Buenos dias Alex, que pasa? Thought I would help with your spanish! Lovely to see you on facetime, however lucky it was at the beginning of our trip north as had it been at the end you may have seen some of the treasures (you would say tat) that we came home with ha ha! Sophie isn't quite as strict as you when it comes to glasswear and had a very nice weekend! Your stay in Sucre sounded varied and fun, am hoping the salt flats live up to expectation!! Look forward to hearing about your experience! All good here, was at a contemporary street dance version of Romeo and Juliet last night, interesting but personally would have liked a bit more contemporary street dance as I think your father could have managed the dance steps performed and rather upset by the ending......as you know I do like a happy ending! Busy week and of course the Yarmouth weekender starts Friday so trying to save a bit of energy as I feel there may be quite a few 80's songs that may need a bit of contemporary dance, a few late nights to be had and a lot of drink to be drunk as well maybe a little trip out to the souvenir shops! Woo woo! Look forward to catching up soon, love you lots xx
Vic I can't help but feel there was a clue in the "Romeo and Juliet contempory dance" just saying xx
