Although it was a slight struggle to revive myself after the late night interview, we somehow managed to eat breakfast and checkout, and walk for 40ish minutes up the San Cristobal hill. I say struggle because we haven't done that much upward walking since the Inca Trail. At least the sun wasn't out yet I suppose. Up the top, we visited the mighty large white virgin nun and Jeremy tried to turn me into one/leave me at the nunnery. I still don't think they'll accept me, I swear too much for starters. We ate empanadas for lunch up there, and played with dogs in the outdoor church, and took the furnicular back down to the hostel (we cheated, I know). There was quite a nice view from up the hill though, probably better than from the tower (Gran Torre) that we had planned to visit but instead decided to catch a bus to Valparaiso. We found super cheap tickets for a bus leaving in 20 minutes, and a couple of dogs played on our laps while we waited to leave for a supposedly easy and fast trip. Of course this didn't happen, and we found ourselves waiting on the side of the road with all of our bags half and hour after departing Santiago, waiting for a replacement bus. When it came to board, we loaded our bags and jumped up, only to realise that it was full. Take three was successful, and three hours after departing Santiago we made it to Valparaiso and (eventually, we got lost first) found Muffin Hostel. The highlight of this tiny hostel was the massive kitchen where we later cooked up cottage fries, and the kittens - four week old kittens that I ended up playing with half the night while drinking a couple of litres of cheap red wine (that I later chucked up at the end of the night.
