After a difficult morning getting up (Steph woke up with her handbag still hanging across her body, ready to party), we managed to check out of the hostel and visit Vina del Mar for the day by taking the local bus. Either we didn't do enough research or the place was just remarkably unimpressive, we definitely did not enjoy it as much as expected. After a long walk down to the beach, we found lots of people and awful waves that crashed at the shoreline and created beaches that were un-swimmable. Pathetic. They also kind of just looked like beaches (and the had the annoying shell sand) - but they were interesting in a weird way.
We managed to find a burger place that served veggie burgers and Jeremy really enjoyed his 'Patagonia' burger - brie cheese, serrano ham, salsa, real beef pattie, garlic aioli and watercress.
Upon finishing lunch, we returned to the markets for take two. The Chilean version of artesan markets includes a lot more hairbraiding with shells it would seem. After an hour here walking up and down the beach front, we ended up trying to find a Parada to catch a bus back to Valparaiso and ended up walking halfway back before we found one.
That night, we caught the bus to Mendoza after a very nourishing meal of avocado sandwiches (forgot to wash the tomato and couldn't open the can of tuna), and somehow we managed to leave this very cool hostel and its kittens behind.
