Day Two in New Zealand!
Woke up this morning to the pouring rain, it was lovely to listen too from the comfort of a warm bed much like at home but this meant that our crazy day of adventures planned had to be put on hold. Paragliding from the mountains had been called off due to the rain and fog, as well as the jet boating and because we are only here for a short amount of time our time available is limited to squeeze them in but in a place like this we were told that the weather is so unpredictable and can change in an instant so fingers crossed we can do both of these activities on Saturday before we fly home!!
We did get to venture into town once the rain stopped to do some shopping, I bought so much stuff and got excited over the New Zealand cash I had in my wallet - their money is very similar to ours but their two dollar coins are the same size as our one dollar coins and look identical on the back so you really need to turn them over to double check if it's AUD or NZD before handing it over the counter lol
We went into Arrowtown today which was lovely, such a cute little olden town much like Handorf in Adelaide which I loved. We had a look at the shops along the shopping strip and then had some lunch at the bakery followed by a few drinks at the local pub. The road we drove along to get home from Arrowtown had such lovely scenery I took so many more amazing photos, we saw millions of sheep and so may more snow covered mountains - it makes me so excited to go skiing over here.
We stopped along the way home to take pictures on the lake with the snow covered mountains behind us, they turned out really nice. (I will need to upload them when I have access to a laptop again to transfer the photos from my camera).
We then came home for some down time before we took off into town again for dinner. It was my turn to have a nap today, I crashed out for two hours of much needed catch up sleep. Dinner tonight was at a lovely steakhouse, the decor over here is great - they love there oversized clocks and fairy lights over here and the fireplaces in every restaurant are a nice touch.
We went to a couple of bars for a couple of drinks before heading back home for the night for some rest. We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow with the 5.5 hour drive to Christchurch.
My overnight bag is packed and ready to go we leave at 6am tomorrow so we won't arrive too late in the day giving us almost two days to explore as we will only be staying there overnight before heading back to Queenstown again.
Looking forward to seeing the container city though, should be great.
Better get some shut eye now, have to be up ready to leave in about 4 hours - lucky I can nap in the car on the long drive!
I will have to upload photos the photos from today off my camera when I have access to a laptop again. I have attached pics taken on my phone though
