I am now settled a little more after a bit of culture shock and realising I am quite a distance from any normal civilisation!
I have settled into teaching and it hasn't been too much trouble, even though I have to rely on the english teacher to translate instructions to the children. I have a few free periods in the day which is ok but not what I was expecting, I would rather be teaching all day. Today I taught some of the children the names of the animals they saw at the zoo on their school trip. The younger ones were able to do the actions but had difficulty pronouncing some of the words (their pronounciations are quite hilarious though!) When teaching the older children aged 12. They had difficulty writing about their hobbies into sentences and couldn't quite grasp the grammar e.g. 'I like flowers because beautiful'. The last lesson of the day, I inflicted some english games onto the younger children. They enjoyed playing duck duck goose however they gave up with the speaking part!
I found a warm shower and a flushing toilet in a swimming pool which I was taken to yesterday. However it is a 25 minute drive away, hopefully I can go there again soon. On Thursday I look forward to going to Kampheng Phet (the province capital city). We are going on a school trip with the older children to see the ruined temples, I will be taking many pictures.
I hope to meet a nearby volunteer at the end of the week, it will be nice to share our experiences.
Thought I would edit my last blog, I'm sorry for the grammar and spelling mistakes. I was in a rush when writing the last blog!!!!
Lots of Love xxx
