Bordeaux.
I stayed with a lovely Servas family here for one night, Brigitte and her 17 year old daughter Lucile, who cooked delicious chicken and told me all about their city. And what a city is was. I fell in love with it, I wasn't expecting to actually, I don't know why. All I knew about bordeaux was wine, I had no idea what a beauty it was.
Winding streets lead to perfect writing cafes, boutiques, boot shops and bars. Cute frenchies dressed so effortlessly and immaculately lined the streets. There were places you could just walk and walk and sit and sit and sip and sip and be content for hours in ones own company. I got my hair cut here, amelie style.
I spent the second night with the American girls, they had a giant hotel room to themselves and kindly invited me to stay with them and we just hung out there, holly and I went for a midnight walk through the city to satisfy a sprite craving. I really enjoyed getting to know them.
Bordeaux is full of life. Place Gambetta, Grand Theatre, Pont de Pierre (famous bridge), the gothic basilica of st michel, and rue st-catherine for heavenly shopping and streets of little patisseres with those adorable little cannolee, the local speciality…Everything about Bordeaux was a treat. I had the best moment buying these amazing leather boots and some stockings, rocking up a bill of 69EURO90 thinking s***s***s***-i-definitely-should-NOT-be-buying-these-butbutbut-LOOK-HOW-PRETTY! And so being my sneaky self I decided o pay with card. About an hour later on a bored bus ride I took a look through my wad of receipts and other pointless paper in my wallet. The stupid/awesome checkout girl had charged me 6 euro 90!
I LOVE YOU BORDEAUX
