Emma and Martin's Travels
Hello all!
We arrived in Delhi safely last week however it was really busy, dirty and smelly so we decided to leave early. We arranged for a trip round Rajastan for 8 days which cost a bit more than we had hoped but it has been worth it so far. Delhi is quite shocking you really have to see it for yourself to beleive how bad it is - there r many children begging, mad car drivers everywhere and cows wandering about - very starnge!
Anyway we left Delhi on Sunday to go to Agra where we visited theTaj Mahal and Agra Fort both of which were very impressive. Our guide explained the history behind each of the buildings and also invited us to his cousins wedding. The wedding was in the evening and was very colourful, busy, there was lots of dancing and there were roughly a thousand people there. It is marriage season just now and so there are many marraiges each day. It was a very starnge experience at the wedding as we were the only white people there and it was like we were famous because everyone was staring at us and we accumulated a large crowd of kids who asked many questions. We then got shoved on the stage for pictures to be taken of us with the bride and groom and we had a big video camera put in our faces and the images from it were shown on a big sreen at the wedding - so weird! We have taken pictures to show you all.
After Agra we went to Jaipur where we vistited a couple of big forts, a castle and went on an elephant ride. I\'m not sure if i would go on an elephant ride again though because they looked quite sad and they hiot them on the head with metal sticks to make them move - not very nice. We also got the chance to visit a silk priinting and a jewellery factory where everything is handmade.
Next we went to a place called Pushkar where we toured round the market, visited a temple and Martin took part in a holy water ritual which is meant to bring you good luck - he also had one of those indian dots put on his head which looked kinda silly although Martin thought it looked good. We also went on a camel ride for an hour - our driver suggested we go on the camel and then stay in a tent in the desert at night as some tourists like to do this however i wasn\'t that keen. The camel ride was ok but gave you a sore bum!
Today we have arrived in Udapuir and are here untill Sunday when we leave for Mumbai. We managed to change our flights so we r in Mumbai for 2 nights then Goa for 5 nights and finally Delhi again for one night before we move on to Hong Kong.
Anyway better go
Hope you are all well
Lots of love
Emma and Martin
