Greetings all!
This will probably be our last blog entry as we're home on Friday so if you want to know about Singapore then I guess you'll just have to ask us! I think in the last entry we were waiting to get the night ferry to the P.P. The night ferry was an interesting experience. It was really bumpy and sooooo hard to fall asleep. We had to sleep on paper thin matresses in rows, which kinda screamed illegal immigrants! We did fortunately arrive safely at the port, only to begin our four hour bus journey to the Krabi port to get the boat across to the P.P. We finally arrived on Koh Phi Phi and took a longboat across to Long beach where we stayed for two nights. The longboats are pretty scary. It's fair to say that on a journey back from the main beach on Phi Phi, we had potentially our fourth near death experience (do not fear parentals-we are fine!). The water was ridiculously choppy, it was dark and really if we're being honest I think the locals only agreed to take us to make a fast buck. We ended up getting out of the boat in waist-high sea water and getting soaked, and were also bricking it that the boat would capsize on the way across - not fun.
Scary boat journeys aside, Koh Phi Phi was stunning. The water was absolutely gorgeous. We had some pretty changeable weather and had to find inventive ways of passing the time without the ability to sunbathe, including what can only be described as a jungle trek to get across to the main beach. We also thought the beach we were staying on was kinda geared to honeymooners. There was very little to do and we had a massive double bed....you fill in the REST ;) We did manage to have a cheapie manicure - pampering is sooooo cheap in Thailand so we did take full advantage towards the end of our time there; we now have very pretty fingers! We decided to leave Phi Phi early and head to Ao Nang for a couple of days cuz the weather had been pretty poor. Ao Nang was heaven. We were overjoyed to find they had a Starbucks, and our hotel was really cheap with a TV, air con, free breakfast and it was really close to the beach. The first day we were there, the weather was amazing, it was boiling - we were so chuffed. Ao Nang beach is really lovely. Like Phi Phi the water is incredibly clear and there are limestone rocks in the water that give it an extra something!
On our second day there we woke up to a torrential downpour, that gave a little sprayage whilst eating breakfast as there was no door to protect you from the rain. We also had to eat amongst the computers which was also a bit random. We booked a Thai cooking course in the afternoon. It was fab; you got to pick 6 dishes to make (including the delicious Pad Thai and Thai green curry) and the best part was you got to eat it all. We were sooooo pogged at the end but it was sooooo worth it. We're now planning to expand the menu at our spring roll shop so watch out for new dishes! We also did our cooking course with two Germans, and Danielle was sooooo happy to meet a real-life Wolfgang!
We arrived in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. We both decided we don't like Air Asia. They didn't have any Pepsi Max for us to drink on the plane and they only give you a 15kg baggage allowance. The hostel where we're staying in KL is nice. When we arrived it was raining loads, but it appears that the weather gets angry around 4pm-6pm then decides to be nice again. Last night we went to a massive shopping centre that had a Topshop. Laura was beyond happy as this is her place of worship, however much to her dismay the prices are the same, if not slightly more expensive. So it makes sense to wait until we get home (sob). Today we went to Chinatown and to the Central market where we picked up a few trinkety goodies. We keep getting heckled quite a lot though by the locals and it's really annoying!
We leave KL tomorrow evening on the sleeper train (joy of joys) for Singapore. We're planning to visit the towers tomorrow and the park as it's meant to be some pretty greenery within the smoggy city.
We both can't believe we only have a few days left. We've had an amazing time, and had a fabulous experience, but we're also looking foward to seeing you all soon. Much love xxxxxxxxxxx
