Greetings everyone!
So we last spoke when we had just arrived in Koh Samui. We ended up doing quite a lot of sunbathing on this island. We invested in a bat and ball set which has provided much amusement and you'll be pleased to know we're getting better the more we play. We went to a cabaret show (roughly translated as a ladyboy show!) It was the most hilarious, disturbing thing that either of us have ever been to. It was difficult to spot which ones were definitely men, the broad shoulders and massive hands and feet often give it away, but sometimes it's really hard to tell! There was a token girl and a token fatty, and it was most disturbing when they went to serenade us by coming into the audience. Pretty scary stuff! We then went to an Irish bar of all places which had a Thai rock band that pretty much consisted of the cast of Wayne's World swinging their hair around to 80s rock music!
We left Koh Samui on Friday for Koh Tao. We were staying along the beach in a little bungalow that smelt a bit damp and of wee! The weather has been a bit overcast of recent so we've been trying mighty hard to perservere with the sunbathing anyway in a bid to appear more bronzed when we get home. We went on a snorkelling trip today. The boat was nauseously choppy and definitely tested the old sea legs. The snorkelling was fun tho and we got to see lots of nice pretty little fishes. They also took us to a private island that cost over a quid to enter, but it did have very white sand and clear waters. We were both silly and didn't put any sunblock on cuz it was really cloudy - rookie mistake as now Laura's chest feels like it is on fire!
Over the weekend we went out in Koh Tao and went to one of the beach parties, It was lots of fun. We saw some fire dancers (looks very scary, but they must be very talented) and drank some of the legendary buckets. We then decided that, that wasn't enough abuse of our livers so we proceeeded to take the ferry to Koh Pha-ngan for the evening and early morning the next day for the half moon party. The place we stayed in Koh Pha-ngan was called the Charm Beach Resort - it really wasn't that charming - DIY flushing of the toilet...mmmm pleasant smells omitted! The party itself was amazing though. We met some really cool people. The party was in a jungle and everyone (us included) was wearing neon body paint. We looked a sight for sore eyes on the ferry on the way back the next morning which our body paint still on and lots of Thai locals sniggering at us and saying "ah half moon." It was a really fun experience nontheless!
Tonight we're taking the night ferry to the P.P as our rep we booked the ferry through so affectionately calls it! Essentially we're off to Koh Phi Phi, the island where they filmed the movie The Beach, for a few days and then that's it for our time on the islands as we fly to Kuala Lumpur and then onto Singapore.
Hope you're all well, not long now until we are home - next week infact eek, time really has flown! xxxxxxxxxx
