Sunday 16th March
Happy Birthday to Daniel!!
Originally, Daniel wanted to spend his birthday by watching F1 at Melbourne Grand prix. Unfortunately it was impossible as it was out of our budget. So we decided to stick to Sydney and visited Bondi Beach for a day. After receiving messages wishing him a happy birthday, he did get a card from Lisa. She did try and looked around for the cakes which was impossible to find a simple one with a happy birthday message on it!!
We caught a tube and then hopped onto a bus going straight to Bondi Beach. It was gorgeous from the moment we arrived. We also thought that it was lucky that we arrived in good time cos within a hour, the beach was getting full of crowds and we had a good spot. After chilling out, sunbathing, listening to music, reading books, swimming in the sea (Which was absolutely freezing!) we made our way back to the hostel by 4pm. We started to prepare for our meal out which we were really looking forward to. We finally were getting the opportunity to dress up smartly and we felt as we were the holiday makers instead of the travellers for the evening!
Once we were ready, we caught the tube straight to Circular Quays and started to look for the restaurants that we were interested and ensuring that we had the views of the bridge too. After browsing around, we finally found one that we were happy with. We purchased a bottle of wine after considering that it worked out cheaper than buying a single drink each. Lisa decided to have fish and chips while Daniel had beef lasagne. Unfortunately for Daniel, he didn't particularly enjoy it as it was full of sauces and hardly tasted of beef. However Daniel was so hungry, he managed to eat it all up. Lisa enjoyed hers very much and was pleased that she didn't consider to have beef lasagne in the end!
The lights from the bridge and the buildings started to shine more as the sun come down. We enjoyed the meal but still we needed the desserts to complete the meal off. Instead of forking alot of money on it, we decided to pop over to McDonalds for McFlurrys. Unfortunately they ran out!! We were gutted so we made our way to Opera house to take photos of it with the lights. We then caught the tube back to Kings Cross where our hostel are. Luckily there was Mcdonalds nearby, we managed to get one which filled us up and completed our stomaches!
We then realised that we would have to take the breath test for the bridge climb tomorrow. We got worried cos we had wines which caused us to be merry! We made sure that we drank plenty of water, hence us going back and forth to the loo! We then retired to bed as we had to get up at 7.30am to ensure that we would get to the bridge climb on time which start at 9.55am. We were told to be there at least 45mins before so we can get a personal brief on safely etc.
We struggled to get to sleep cos the roomates kept waking us up with switching the lights on and off!
