Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th October
Bula! A hello from Fiji. Sorry that we haven't been able to update our blog or photos as we didn't have the converter to charge our laptop up so basically we ran out of battery! Its probably a good thing so we can switch off and restore our energy, relaxing away on the hammocks!
Basically there isn't much to report, we just did too much lazing around as there was nothing to do on that resort! Lisa doing her usual relaxing on the hammock while Daniel was off searching for any interesting features on the coral reef in the sea, while taking the dogs for a walk almost every day.
Every day, we still had free breakfast, enough to fill us up through till 4pm for free afternoon tea. That was our favourite part of the day. We didn't cook anything for a whole week! We had our dinner cooked by the staff in the evening which was of course paid for! All for that for one week, everything included was for at least £60 each. Not bad for a week eh?!
The hostel did offer free activities too which we didn't bother to do till Saturday. We decided to take up to do coconut jewellery which we made a heart shaped necklace for Lisa. Just needed the chain to complete it.
On Friday afternoon, Lisa decided to take the photos of the sunset, so she got off the hammock and took it. Unfortunately she felt something that stung her foot. She realised she stood on the insect that looked like a spider but couldn't tell as it was half hidden under the sand.
It started to throb painfully so she limped quickly to the nearby staff to ensure that it wasn't anything serious. The staff ensured that there was nothing dangerous on the beach and pulled the "stick" out that was attacked into Lisa's foot.
Lisa then limped back to the room where Daniel was sorting the hearing aids out. The pain unfortunately increased, making it impossible to walk on. Daniel, being a nurse, checked to see if the "stick" haven't been left behind in her foot. For the next 2 days, it was impossible for her to walk around as it was swollen.
Sunday came along, we decided to check out and stayed in the hostel near the airport as we had to catch a early flight to New Zealand.
We were waiting for the local bus which we used to arrive at our hostel. We waited for ages till the hostel airport shuttle suddently had 2 free seats which we took. It was meant to be $12 each but we didn't have enough cash on us so we managed to get it for $15 for both of us!
Once we arrived to Nadi hostel, we weren't impressed with it at all!! We were just pleased that we were only there for one night! We were unable to pay for it by debit card, they only accepts cash which we didn't have enough on us. We had to get the taxi to the nearest ATM and back to the hostel again. We couldn't believe how far the ATM was as we could easily walk there which is like 10 mins away! We weren't happy with the receptionist forcing us to use the taxi!
The hostel was feeling like as we were visiting either prison block or mental hospital block! It was a horrid feeling and we tried to stay out of there as long as we could. There was nothing to do there. The hostel claims to be a restaurant but we couldn't see anything, just a small measley bar that sells crisps! We decided to go for a walk and see if we could find something to eat which we found a nice cafe and had toasted sandwiches.
We couldn't believe how much we have already spend in just one day! It was alot more than what we spent on staying in Coral Coast and they were even in better state!!
