So back to Streaky Bay we went.
Our second visit there was a lot more stress free, no near death experiences this time. We then planned to make the WA south coast with 1 nights stop at the ever jaw dropping Nullabor cliffs. From streaky bay that's over 1300 kilometres in that short amount of time. To make Esperance by the next day was ambitious and we were warned taking the 'short cut' could be dangerous but we went ahead anyway (knowing Pauline and Ray would be driving out looking for us in the sticks somewhere between Norseman and Esperance if we were to run into trouble) we felt pretty safe... And I'm not sure shenae sending a photo of the troopy sitting on the dirt with one tyre off to the side shredded like confetti really helped the situation back home. But thanks to my Dad, Mr Moolin (my year 10 metalwork teacher) and Ken Burvill (my driving teacher) I had sufficient experience in changing a tyre and cheers to Pop for the extra jack, came in handy. Infact getting the wheel off the roof rack was the hardest bit.
Two new tyres later we passed through plenty of beautiful bays and campsites including Alexander bay and Quagi beach just outside Esperance. Bremer Bay gave us amazing views, sandboarding experiences and plentiful fish which kept us going for a few meals. We are now passing through Albany and Denmark. We stayed at a nice spot with some good surf called Cosy Corner and last night we made Parrys beach our campsite.
Tonight were looking forward to a beach camp just past Walpole and if we're lucky a few fish for dinner.
Over the whole trip I wasn't really looking forward to the south west simply because it wasn't 'all new' to me but since we turned around in Melbourne WA has been the only thing I've been excited for and I'll call it and say my favourite places on the trip have been the south west spots. Happy to call the west home.
Alex.
