It's been a while so we thought we would send you a little note! Things have been great in Vietnam. Its our last tonight before we head into Cambodia tomorrow morning bright and early. After Hanoi we made our own way up to Cat Ba Island and hired a private junk(boat) to take us around Halong Bay (Good advice Mr Swannell). We met some lovely people on the way to Cat Ba and hired the boat with these guys. Again it was very multi-cultural with us Brits,Germans and Danish. We had such an amazing trip and its something we will never forget. The Crewman could not speak a word of the queens but we had such a laugh with them. Got them blathered on expensive Red Wine and playing the universal game of Uno until the early hours..Crazy Horses! We spent New Years Eve in Cat Ba which was ace before getting a 16 hour coach ride on a sleeper coach down to Hue not ace!!!I was on the top bunk and didnt sleep a wink! Hue was alright but it never stopped raining, not the sort of rain we are used to- tropical rain!!! Neadless to say we only spent 1 night there and swiftly moved on in search of sunnier climates. We then headed to Hoi An further down the coast- tailoring town! Hoi An was absolutley beautiful, french colonial buildings and the people were so friendly. Almost tempted to get on a motor boat ride along the river Ian decided that we should go on a tailboat that a very old man with no teeth was trying to get us to go on. Ian felt sorry for him in we got. Well... this guy was away with fairies and couldn't stop hysterically laughing. People were coming up to us telling us we wouldn't get anywhere with this old geezer but we decided to stick by our decision. The guy rowed for 3 mins doen the river, stole an awe and made Ian row and then took 25 mins to take is around the corner (we could still see the point at which we started). We then headed straight into some fishing boats and fishermen started shouting at him to turn around, this guy was still hysterically laughing. He was like Maureen from driving school. We managed to mime turn around and back we went. 50 mins later we returned. We didn't travel very far but I have never laughed so much. We will out the pics of him on next time. We then got ourselves tailored up, 2 suits, 3 ties and a coat. Mum they have been shipped back to yours- 2- 3 months they'll take, I think they must be going the long way round! Along with our Aussie mates we headed to Na Trang beach town, but no fun on the beach when it's pissing it down so off we moved again onto Miu Ne. Mui Ne was hot hot hot- finally! Some motorbikers took us to the springs and the most amazing white and red sand dunes. Little kids rushed to hire us plastic mats and off we went to ride the dunes (kinda like sledging but on sand in the sun). We are now in Saigon, our final day in Vietnam, off to Cambodia- Phnom Penh in the morning. Saigon has been really great learning lots about the war and riding on cylcos (a chair attached to a bicycle that you sit on and man peddles you). Forgetting that it was 5pm and rush hour Lance Armstrong cycled at about 50 mph head on into 100's of mopeds, I was sat on Ian's knee and all we could do was close our eyes and hope for the best.
