Righto. First of all we hope you had a very Merry Xmas and that you enjoyed your dinner. We were due to have Lobster on the Big Day but it ended up being too expensive. They wanted 75 quid for 2 small lobsters! Have they not been to Lidl???? Then our guest house ran out of Barracuda so we settled for T-Bone steak and chips. Very South Eastern Asian!!! Anyway since we last blogged we have been to Phi Phi, discovered more beaches in Nao Prabang, Koh Lanta and are now in Nam in Hanoi. We had a great christmas, we met up with a couple that we met on phan ngan and another couple from Sheff and spent christmas together with the sea, sand and fireworks! Although the highlight was def speaking and seeing the family back home (the wonders of modern technology). We are off to Halong Bay tomorrow for a few night and will bring in the new year on a boat and then we will soend the next 10 days heading down the coast to Miss Saigon. The last 2 days in Hanoi have been crazy! Arrived yesterday and loads of people were selling Vietnam T-Shirts flags, bandanas, head bands the works. We thought it was for the New Year. How wrong were we???? It was only the final of the Suzuki cup with Vietnam playing Thailand in the final. Me and Ah lass watched it in some random street bar with all the Vietnamese fans who kept offering all sorts of crazy drinks. Now the Lonely Planet advises not to accept drinks off strangers so I had to turn down a Beer ha Noi. Not been rude I made ah lass drink some Vietnamese tea so if she was poisened at least one of us was in a fit state to look after the other! It all turned out ok and neither isof us were poisned and Vietnam ended up winning 3-2! Crazy bloody horses the city erupted! I secretly wanted Thailand to win but they were crap so after watching this we partied in the streets with all the Vietnam fans. Amy even got given a Vietnam banner. They kept singing the same old song we think they were singing 'Vietnam won it" but we are still not 100% sure. They are all lovely people apart from the old women who wouldnt let me try some pork earlier. Long story i'll tell you about this when I get back home. Anyway we hope you all have a lovely New Year and we will give a further update very soon. Love you lots Ian and Amy xxxx
