Ok, so it's been a while I know so there's a lot to update you on (we are actually in Oz now but I'll start from where we left you).
So after our adrenalin sports on Queenstown, South Island NZ we went on a mammoth adventure through NZ. There was so much to see and do and to say that most people give themselves at least a few months to explore, we didn't do too bad in 3 weeks. We trekked (kiwis call it tramping), jetboated, white water rafted, luged, skydived, sailed, swam with dolphins, watched sperm whales, climbed glaciers........... Are you exhausted- we were!!! But I have to say NZ was just breath taking. Everyday we were even more blown away by the sights than the day before. We ventured off to Wanaka, Milford Sound, Franz Josef Glacier, drove the arthurs pass, kaikora, Abel Tasmin National Park. Then in the North Island we went to stinky Rotarura (full of colourful thermal spa's but makes the whole town smell like smiths arse after a night on the lash). We walked the Tangarino Crossing 20k and took 7 hours to complete. The views were amazing, we climbed Mount Doom from Lord of the Rings where you could hear the whispers of the trekkers saying 'my precious' for every photo opportunity. The locals did insist on calling the mountain by it's formal Mauri name but for the life of me I can't remember. We then to a mauri village to understand the history of the people and NZ. We of course watched a traditional mauri performance with ace dance performance including the Hakka see these days on the rugby pitch. We can do an ace rendition after a couple of beers- we'll show you when we get back! After stinky town we headed to Waitomo to the glow worm caves- amazing! you sail through uner water rivers underground will millions of glow worms that light of the cave like stars.
I am not sure if I have told you this already but Ian's nickname for the trip has been Frank Spencer- as all of our friends and family will know Ian is very accident prone. Even from the start of our trip in asia where doorways were too low, unobvious steps, slippery floors (I must admit asia is not designed for anyone over 5"4! Well the accidents have continued... tripping over rocks, slipping down hills, breaking his little finger, blisters, chaffing (Stuarts influence of not wearing underwear), nearly drowning white water rafting, being stung by jellyfish, sunburn even with factor 50, I will keep updating you but the list goes on...
It was then to Auckland where we didn't see that much of the city. We had the most random crazy night with Tam's mate Jared. He showed us NZ life by taking a midnight spa, drinking kiwi wine and then not remembering any of it the next day!!!
We then got a parking ticket and then flew to OZ.
Please see next blog for our fun and games in oz including being caught in the middle of a cyclone!
