Hello :)
Tallinn, Estonia is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been!
I'm currently sat on a cobbled street in a lovely little cafe in glorious weather on a chair with a bloody comfy cushion :)
The ferry ride over was a great crossing as we all decided to get drunk! After our great night out in Helsinki it didn't take long for us to find the bar on the ferry and as I said before I enjoyed the JD and coke for the whole 2 hour crossing :) Some of the boys on the tour entertained the whole ship with their dancing and we didn't do too bad when the DJ decided to play snippets of songs which we had to guess. As we arrived into Tallinn I went onto the sun deck and was very surprised at where we were docking.
I'm not sure what I had in mind but this place is beautiful. The old town is surrounded by walls and all the roofs are tiled in a distinctive red tile. Their are a number of church's with amazing spires and towers that make the skyline amazing. We went straight to the hotel and had a 2 hour rest before getting our glad rags on and heading to the city for a walking tour, the tour final meal and a great night out.
Eduardo gave us a tour of the main local sights and tried his best to tell us a little about them. However, dressed up to go out most of us just wanted to get on with the night! We had a great 3 course meal on Topdeck at a restaurant called Peppersack and over the course of the meal different people made speeches to thank Eduardo, Chad and Szabi. I said a few words about Eduardo :)
After the meal we went to a bar that sold shots and weird drinks in science test tubes. I have to admit I was a little boring and stuck to the beer :) One of the highlights of the night was seeing Yacob, my Saudi friend, dress up in his traditional clothes. He looked amazing and everyone loved the fact that we had a 'Sheik' on the night out with us! In the science bar he looked amazing under the UV lights dressed in all white :)
We then moved downstairs in the bar to a club and were pretty much the only people there. However, with 40 in our group it was perfect! I requested our group song, The Nights by Avicci, and singing and dancing to it with everyone is a great memory!
After a while dancing and getting extremely sweaty we moved to our final destination, Venus Club. It was a huge club for over 21's, apart from the young ones in our group. We were the first there but steadily it filled up and it was a great night! Myself and the boys particularly enjoyed the twins dancing on the bar!
At around 2am we decided it was time to go so we jumped in a taxi and went back to our hotel. It was great to have a real bed, duvet and a shower in our room!
Today I woke up at 9am and joined the rest of the group for breakfast. I then said my goodbyes to some people that are leaving Tallinn today to continue on their travels before packing my own stuff up and checking out. Officially I have now finished the tour so I got the bus into town to my new hostel. Red Emperor. I then went to join the free walking tour at the Tourist Info office and have just had a great two hour guided walk around the city. It honestly is a beautiful little place. Definitely worth a visit and I believe the Christmas markets are brilliant! I will be telling Mum and Dad to put it on their list, it's perfect!
This afternoon I plan to go up the tower of St Olav's Church to get a panoramic view of the city and sea. Tonight I'm meeting the people still on the tour as they have a free day here before heading off to Russia tomorrow.
That's it for now so from one of the best places in the world... Ta tar for now :) x
