Puno - 6th November
Arrived late on the 5th and managed to catch the tail end of "Puno week" being a large festival for people of the surrounding area of Lake Titicaca. Lots of street dancing and music and costumes. Got some video clips on my little camera, but its damn hard enough to upload pictures from these poor internet connections so god knows how long it will take for video. I will try and if I get it on I will consider myself an IT guru!
Met up with an expat Peruvian and German, both in IT installing 3G technology in Central Americas. The Pervuvian guy was great and showed us around town and into local bars. Got to drink a few "Kollas" a beer only brewed in Puno and uses coca leaves. An accquired taste after 4 or 5. Gonna all be in Brazil at same time and seeing if we can meet up.
Morning of 6th, felt ruff from beers and then read it was a bad thing to do if you had not fully adjusted to altitude. Puno is at 3830m so damn high! Managed to stuggle out of bed and take tablets and onwards. Got the local boat ferry to the Isla Flotantes - floating islands made out of reeds that people live on. Interesting place if a little touristy, pics are good though.
In early evening had to go to bed as felt really ill and dizzy from altitude and need to shake it off as on a guided coach tour from Puno to Cusco that leaves at 7am.
