Hola Everyone,
Last day in Buenos Aires today, so took the mornign off sighseeing and did the things you have to when traveling light - got my laundry done (this actually is the 4th time by the way!), bought some more toiletries and then into town to buy a new charger for my camera as some !!!!!!!!! nicked my existing one from my dorm room whilst I was in the shower last night. Stupid me as I left it just on top the locker and everything else was looked up. Lucky I suppose it could have been worse, as only $40 to replace....just annoyed with myself and which W****R could have done it.
The Hostel has been great with a roof top bar, like 6 stories up with good views over BA. A 4 person dorm, most people have been European, so a good way to meet people. And it includes breakfast, being orange juice, coffee, 2 sugary crossants, cereal and toast n jam. Wait for it.....nightly cost US$6.50....I drank my costs in free coffee!
This afternoon, another trip.....a coachy type tour f the River Plate Delta...its about 15 mikes up the river. We went by coach and then caught a train that follws the riverside and then onto a catamaran to go around the Delta. Its full of little islands created by the sediment coming downstream from the amazon and really reminded my of part of Florida canals. It was really pleasant and sunny and beautiful. Its where the rich portenos (BA people) live.
A nice way to finish my stay in BA.
In the evening I actually got a little dressed up, i.e. I wore a shirt with sleeves and collar and went to a quite swanky restaurant, only really used by upmarket portenos and local businessmen etc.
I had a salad starter that was big enough for 3, then the biggest fillet steak I have ever seen or eaten in my life....litterally no veg with it just meat as this is how they do it. Washed down with a bottle of the best red wine on thier menu (witht he exception of about 6 really stupid priced bottles). Total bill 14 quid.....you could get the wine for that back in UK......sorry to harp on, but BA and Argentina is so cheap and really nice too.
Got to bed sort of early as flight tommorrow to Santiago Chile.
Ciao
Steve
