Hi all,
Today, Monday, got up early for a day guided tour trip of the Ignacu Falls national Rainforest park. It was a 5km bus ride to the park entrance. When in the tour included a 8km ride in the back of an open top merc truck, very Indian Jones, shame i didn´t bring my horse whip with me. Ging through the rainforest was exciting with various wildlife noises emanating from the undergrowth.
The truck stopped at the side of the Rio Ignacu about 4km downstream from the falls. It was then into a powerful rubber hulled speedboat, 25 of us. Then upstream at great speed weaving amonst the rocks and rapids, a great laugh. We got close to the first set of falls and slowed up to take pictures. Then under our seats were very heavy duty plastic type sealing bags. Told to put everything in them and I mean everything. Not just camera and wallet, but T shirt, shoes, sunglasses... Then we were off towards the bigger falls.
What a ride, it was so exciting, with rapids and water coming in over the sides, but the best was yet to come, when we got to the larger falls, we actually went into the spray area at the bottom of any large waterfall. Truly amazing, and was like 50 people all throwing buckets of water at you. How it doesnt sink I dont know!´Back to land and soaked. But it is so hot here that within 10 minutes my shorts were bone dry.
Then off to see the falls on foot and by train in the park too. Loads of different ones to see and the roar of the water cascading down is truly a sight to see.
All in all a really great day and one not to be missed if you ever get to Argentina.
I will load up the photos, but they wont do the scenery justice.
Chill out night tonite at a BBQ at the hostel/hotel and back tommorrow am to Buenos Aires as have a cycle tour of the city booked for the afternoon. God this is like work with so much organised!!
Take care everyone.
