With our warm up days gone, it was time to do some full-on biking: 70km, compared to yesterday's 40, and the day before's 30!
The road today went up and down considerably more, as we headed up to even higher ground. The road just about stayed a road, though we had to stay very alert to miss the potholes that had a nasty habit of hiding round blind bends or at the bottom of hills. The reward for all this was miles of green and stunning view after stunning view.
Our ride was broken up by two stops. The first was a small cafe slightly perched above green paddy fields, in the middle of nowhere. Unexpected but very welcome! The second was the mystic Fish Cave. Unlike most of our cave visits it was not a big cave, we did not go inside and there was no impressive stone formations. From the road we walked through some amazingly well-kept gardens along the river until we reached the tiny cave -- the source of the river, and crammed to the gills with fish! The fish themselves were not small, easily all over a foot long, some over 2 feet, and yet they all wished to squeeze into a cave just a few meters square. Weird!
