A short journey today to Franz josef... With only a short stop at a jade factory... Bought myself a jade necklace.... Will research the meaning/uses of jade when I get chance.... If anyone knows then pop it on the comments.... Arrived in Franz in enough time to see the kiwi wildlife park before kayaking! Kiwi was good, saw 2 of the rarest that are native to Franz... But at £10 for the privilege then when I asked for the wifi code they told me I had to buy something to get it... My answer of, "how about the fiver I just paid for each bird I saw" wasn't best received.... So I treated myself to an ice cream, then was told it was supposed to be a drink.... after she took my money and served the ice cream... But was doing me a "favour" by giving it to me anyways....No love, you have approximately 13 of my well earned pounds in your possession... I saw 2 birds, a few fake icicles and 1 scoop on the s*** cones (you know the ones I mean, £1 less than the good wafer cones ;) ) so it's not a favour you're doing, more like daylight robbery ;)

Enough of that...

Kayaking was AMAZING! Loved it.... After I was reassured I wouldn't fall in of course.... I have not grown out of my cold water fear, if anything it's getting worse you will all be pleased to know.... The lake was a glacier black water lake which acted like a mirror... Phenomenal... We kayaked (is that a word?!) to then other side of the lake and the went all alone in silence through the rainforest section...it was so pristine it was amazing...definite highlight of the trip... Then a quick sauna and chat on the phone....this made me so happy, I've missed chatting so much..combination of living like a nomad, time difference and lack of regular/reliable wifi has made communication home more challenging... But now I've had my gossip fill, I am back on track :)

Then we went to the hot spas.... Lovely..! So good to just chill..! Now that felt more like a holiday.... Shame it's not beaming with sunshine.... One can hope eh....

Quick beer in front of the log fire before retiring to bed to write this...
