So here I find myself sitting in Nandos at 10.30am local time in Johannesburg airport. I am waiting for my uncle to collect me, but he has a pre-arranged dentist appointment so I have to wait an hour or so. I was asked numerous times on the way up to "the restaurant area" whether I wanted help with my bags to get to the domestic terminal... Men in orange coats patrol the airport and take bags between terminals... for a fee of course. I politely declined their offer of help and made my way to the chaotic seating & food area. Not much to choose from - Nandos & Steers... no Starbucks in sight. However, it does appear they are renovating the area and all I can say is... thank heavens and about time!!My uncle collected me and we drove back to his house. He has a wonderful 4wd Prado which is very comfy. He is my Mom's younger brother and is looking very well - with a fair amount of weight shed. At the house I meet his partner, Jennifer, who is from Mauritius. She has cut her hair and lost weight also. Then I spy my little cousin, Sean, who is 2 years old. He is so cute and his mummy has been telling him all about me so he even knows (in his own unique way) how to say my name - something that even my brother as a child could not do.My flight was actually very good and really smooth. I sat in the middle of a row of 3 and one lad occupied the window seat with no-one on the other side and therefore plenty of room to stretch my legs. I got chatting to the lad over dinner - name was Andrew & he is originally from Yorkshire. He is a project manager and is travelling to South Africa on business. However, he arrived earlier than his business meetings & is hiring a car & heading to the Kruger National Park for a couple of days. He was nice & interesting to chat to which was a pleasant way of passing a number of hours of my 10hour flight.
