Today has been very low key. After a uneventful night bus back to Cusco we bought our bus tickets for Puno for tomorrow morning. Then a short taxi ride back to Piccola Locanda - the hostel we had previously stayed at - before setting out to breakfast. We ate too much - but the quantities were huge and when you are travelling and on a budget you are loath to leave something you've paid for! Anyway - it lasted us through the whole day until evening dinner despite leaving our plates half eaten! We caught up on few hours sleep as the night bus inevitably leads to broken and disturbed sleep so you never feel refreshed. Scott spent a couple of hours loading up our photos from the Amazon experience onto the netbook and drop box now that we are back with internet access. We went on a wander round Cusco in the afternoon and ventured up to a suburb called San Blas where I found a book club I could exchange both the novels I've finished reading for another.
The evening took us to very unusual and unique restaurant called Aldea Yanapay, the profits of which go to children's community projects. The whole place was kitted out for kids in terms of décor with huge stuffed toys on the chairs and mobiles hanging from the ceiling. I thought the waitress gave us a weird look when I asked to sit at the table up on a platform looking down over the quirky restaurant - it was only when we sat down we realised the chairs were very low and small and I think (Julia) had picked the kids table!!
Another early start tomorrow to catch the bus so I'm off to bed!
