A similar restless nights sleep again. I think I might get Ju to have a cold shower before bed this evening to cool her down. Despite a lack of sleep we managed to get up early, organise ourselves and set off before 9.30am. The drive was tedious and slightly boring as there wasn't much to look at. It took around 4 hrs to reach Nambucca Heads. I quite enjoyed listening to the radio as we motored along the highways. Ju offered to drive a few times but I felt happy grinding gears.
We arrived at the White Albatross Caravan Park in Nambucca Heads just after 1.30pm. We had a spot of lunch before walking to the lagoon for a swim. The sun was really hot and I welcomed the decision to sit next to the pool all afternoon. Headphones in place I travelled down memory lane listening to albums which I had obtained over 20 years ago. Listening to the tracks launched me back in time. It felt like yesterday driving around in my Ford Orion with tunes pumping out the stereo. Who would have thought back then I would be married and led next to a pool somewhere in the heart of Australia. I drifted in and out of sleep. Around me kids were diving off every available object into the pool whilst screaming and running wild. Ju led reading her book completely oblivious to the World around her too. It was good to have time to think and reflect on life.
We walked into town to fetch some supplies. Woolworths is a pretty good store out here. We bought some lovely pasta and salads. The evening started pretty much the same as the afternoon. I uploaded to the blog whilst Ju continued to read her book. We felt quite lazy and relaxed, but we haven't felt the Christmas vibe yet! I caught up with Mum briefly on Skype. Our call was interrupted by a green tree frog which had perched itself on the front windscreen. It seemed completely oblivious to Ju and I flapping around inside the van trying to find a camera. After the Skype call we ventured outside to take another photo. We had been told that some frogs and toads out in Oz are poisonous, so we proceeded with caution. Ju told me to watch out as they can spit venom (I knew a few people over the years at work that can do that!). Of course I knew she was joking. Curled up in bed we watched another DVD.
