I woke early at around 6am to the sound of birds, and after an hr of realising I wasn't going to go back to sleep decided to get up slowly, trying not to wake Scott, and go for a run along the boardwalk by the sea, followed by some lengths in the caravan park pool. To my delight along my jog I spotted a pod of 30 or so dolphins about 20m offshore - a brilliant start to the day I thought as the sun basked down on me. The pool was empty and beautifully clean and clear - it felt good to stretch out and pick up a bit of speed. To my delight my handsome husband turned up to swim alongside me, looking very tanned after taking in the Aussie sun yesterday.
By 10 am we were on the road and began our journey to Nelson Bay. The journey seemed to go on and on, longer than expected. But we passed the time by listening to the recordings in the ipod of 2 psychic readings Scott had had in 2005 and 2007, before we met. Some of the stuff had uncannily come true, but other stuff a bit more dubious. We both remain slightly sceptical.
It was 3.30pm by the time we reached our campsite, picked for the gorgeous pool pictures we'd seen on the internet. I was keen to get back to the novel I'd started the day previously, so it didn't take long for us to make ourselves comfortable on the pool loungers. It's a lovely setting with palm trees and a spa next to the main pool shaped like an oasis. Our patch of grass we're camping on is surrounded by bush and as I write this in the evening I can hear the place come alive with the hum of crickets and insects. I've spotted koalas in the gum trees overhead and kookaburras flying by. The only negative being the mosquitoes seem a bit more prevalent here, hence why Scott has locked himself in the van refusing to open the door! It's our last night in the cramped camper tonight and we're both relieved!
