I had just arrived at the caravan park in Carnarvon and was admiring the artwork on a campervan nearby which depicted a man that resembled Bob the Builder but instead of tools, this Bob had a beer can in his hand. The drive from Perth can be done on the Brand highway. I chose to take a more interesting route along the coast. There are numerous coastal communities on this stretch of coast between Perth and Geraldton. Most of these communities are a mixture of fishing, farming and tourism communities. Fremantle was the next port of call. The caravan park is about 3km from Fremantle city so I broke out the treddly and rode into town. The town has kept its old buildings and has an interesting feel to it(around the CBD at least). It's much like Hobart except warmer.
