Tag 2, von Vielsalm nach Burg Reuland
Ein höchst entspannter Tag! Die Wanderung easy going (26 km), das Wetter heiter bis wolkig und die Farben des Tages sind gelb (Ginster) und weiss (Wiesenkerbel).
Die Ardennen dünnen schon aus, mittlerweile bin ich in der Eifel angekommen. Dieser Teil gehört zum deutschsprachigem Belgien, was man an Ortnamen wie Braunlauf oder Gruffingen erkennt. Kleine Geschichtslektion: Nach dem 1. Weltkrieg wurden Teile des Dt. Reiches im Versailler Vertrag (1919) an Belgien abgegeben. Diese deutsprachigen Cantone haben auch ein eigenes Parlament.
The touristic attraction of the day was Burg Reuland, a 1000 year old castle ruin, which looks like that is most likely haunted by a dozen ghosts.
Near the castle, an elderly man asked me, if i hike the GR5, we started to chatt and he told me that he and his wife years ago hiked the entire GR5 from Hoek van Holland to Nice and decided to settle down here in Ouren (which is about 10 km away from here). Funny! But understandable. It really is lovely here.
Tonight, I am staying in a quite fancy hotel, which is brandnew and the threfore still empty and relatively cheap. Look at the picture of the dining room!
