We left bright and early for the roadtrip with two girls we'd made friends with in the hostel. We found our way out the city in no time. Our first stop was Torquay and Bells Beach - home of RipCurl surfing. We'd seen clips of the beach when at Surf Camp but sadly when we arrived there was little surf. On our first day in Melbourne we hunted for a rental car to drive the Great Ocean Road. Once that was sorted we had a mooch around the city. We walked along the riverside and around the outside of Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). There were loads of bronze statues honoring sporting greats in the AFL and Cricket world. Despite the rain in Sydney, we spent our first evening checking out the harbour near Circular Quay. We posed infront of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. The lack of sunlight made it look a bit gloomy but it was still amazing to see two of Australias most iconic structures. The morning after the night before! Painful! Possibly still drunk! Si had hit snooze on the alarm and my bladder saved us from sleeping in and missing our bus.
