Simon & Kim's Global Adventure
The morning after the night before! Painful! Possibly still drunk! Si had hit snooze on the alarm and my bladder saved us from sleeping in and missing our bus. I managed to grab us a bacon sarnie from the cafe before we hopped on the bus. It provided only short relief for Si who had to ask our bus driver, Uncle Buck, to stop so he could spew. Although not hungover, I had very little energy and dreaded the thought of surfing.Thankfully by the time we arrived at Mojo Surfcamp in Spot X we were with the land of the living. We checked in and received a tour of camp. Me and Si had a beachfront cabin.
After lunch we got changed and had our theory lesson. We were told the basics of rips and wave conditions. They handed out skinnys and surfboards and we headed to the beach. Spot X was a long shallow beach with small waves so perfect for beginners. In a semi-circle we practised getting up on our boards. We were taught two methods - the pop up and the step up. Si managed it much better than me.
We practised standing up loads on the sand before we went in the sea. Si managed to stand a few times. I managed to kinda stand once but I fell off immediately. Both of us really enjoyed it and Si loves the fact he can stand up on a board.
Unlike others who were partying, we were still in recovery. We had an early night and were packed and ready to leave by seven for our ten hour bus journey to Sydney.
