After a somewhat late night, we had a bit of a sleep in this morning... Didn't really matter as it was actually raining... The hostel offered pancakes for breakfast - we had to make them of course but its pretty social and we took the "free" meal ;) We then wanted to head to what is known as Red Frog Beach on the island of Bastimentos, but as we got onto the rickety old boat and started to make our way across the lagoon, our driver turned around and took us back onshore as there was a heavy rainstorm in the direction of the island we were headed to, quite nice of him! So we got back onshore and went to the various travel agencies to figure out if we could get to Boquette earlier than the 11:30am ferry... We eventually worked out that we could get there a good few hours earlier (and for much cheaper) using various forms of public transport so that settled our decision and we would be heading there tomorrow... We then checked that the weather had cleared and got back onto our boat and headed across to Red Frog Beach...
The surroundings really are so unique and beautiful- again, very think jungle and still clear waters... When we arrived at the island, we paid our $3 to allow us entry to the beach and we hopped onto a bakkie-type bus and drove through the jungle area to the beach... The weather itself was pretty grey but still warm and humid... The beach really is gorgeous, quite untouched - so we lay our sarongs down and ended up again, sleeping and reading intermittently... We are exhausted - think it has to do with all the early morning traveling etc... Ryan had stayed behind on Bocas to watch the Champions League final. We had told our boat driver to fetch us at 4pm so at about 3 we went to grab a small bite to eat and then headed back to the boat and back to Bocas... That night we had decided to cook dinner (most hostels have kitchens for you to use) so we went to buy some chicken and other ingredients for wraps and we went to the hostel to chill and gather ourselves before the next few days of traveling! I feel human again after taking time out to "groom" haha... We then went down to cook our dinner and had delicious wraps for dinner :) Feeling good... Felt I needed to walk around to digest a bit before heading to bed so we went out to walk around the town... It's not a huge place so we ended up doing a few laps haha (came across this poor man who was walking what could only be his home-made plane - yes he was walking his plane...) We have a super early rise tomorrow so after a few laps of walking we headed to the dorm and to bed! Very chilled day... Keen to get to Boquette and do some active things :)
Lesson of the day: Don't have the second wrap!!!!!
Moment of the day: Seeing the Springbok jersey in this sports bar in Bocas :)
