Caye Caulker you hidden gem you!! We decided to take it easy today (because life has just been sssoooo hectic haha) so we slept in a little then went for a good Caribbean breakfast at our sister hotel... We then headed to the Strip (a gap between the north and south sides of the island which formed after a hurricane ripped through it many many years ago - it has since become the best place to hang out on the island, listen to Bob Marley, swim and watch the sunset...) and we stayed here all day long! We got connected with our Rastafarian brothers, listened to Bob and his cronies all day, met up with Amy and Scott, chatted and chilled all day! What a cool place where life is all about love and peace and happiness :) At about 5pm, Se and I decided to take a little walk around the island to explore and see more of its parts... We saw more hotels, houses for rent, residential spots, the school, even the local soccer field... We made our way back to the strip for sunset which was extremely festive at this stage! We had made arrangements to meet the other South Africans for dinner so we headed home to shower and freshen up (most challenging in this insane heat!!) and we then eventually settled at a restaurant called Wish Willies (third time lucky!!) where you choose between fish, chicken or meat and it is grilled for you and served with some sides... We were also introduced to the local drink of choice known as rum punch! Met a few Australians and mostly just hung out until we all decided the sun had taken its toll and it was bed time! What an awesome day truly experiencing this island way of life... So crazy to think people actually live like this and that this is not all play play! Looking most forward to tomorrow as we have booked a full day snorkeling tour on the Barrier Reef - second biggest in the world after Great Barrier in Oz!
Lesson of the day: One love!
Moment of the day: Sitting watching the sunset at the Strip with Bob Marley playing in the background...
