Vicky and Natalie's Adventures
Perhaps you're thinking 'should they still be in Australia?', well, I'll come to that soon enough...!
Sailing on the Whitsundays was fantastic! We were on a boat called Summertime with 17 people including the crew. We went snorkelling and kayaking and got to see so much reef and coral it was incredible! We made a stop in at Whitehaven beach which, due to the weather was a little disappointing. Still it was nice to see it! We had a big party back in Airlie beach with the people from the boat at the end of our 3 days - it was lots of fun! We then headed up to Magnetic Island which was crazy as it looked like Jurrasic Park (but without the dinosaurs). Apparently it is so named because when Captain Cook landed there his compass went crazy due to all the metallic ores on the island. It was quite deserted where we stayed but there was a bar on site so there was carnage every night since there was nothing to do but drink. We hired a car one day and went round the island. We wanted to try our hand at golf but decided against it since it was raining! We also went to Mission beach but saw nothing of it because of the rain so we zoomed up to Cairns where we booked ourselves a bus up to Cape Tribulation to see the oldest rainforest in the planet! Wow! On the way we did a crocodile cruise down the Daintree river which was very cool but I was glad I was in a boat! We also went jungle surfing - flying through the canopy of the rainforest on zip wires! It was fun - especially when we got to go upside down! It was a good job we were permanently attached to things because the trees swayed a lot in the wind! We went out to the reef up in the Cape too where again we went snorkelling! It was crazy - we found nemo and some of the people we were with saw sharks and turtles. Good stuff!
And so we returned to Cairns for our final night in Australia. We got up this morning all ready to go to the airport when Nat happened to glance at our tickets... the flight was yesterday! Ooops! Ah well, so we accidentally have missed out Thailand due to a technical hitch. Oh dear! Its a wonder we made it this far! Still, we'll be home on Saturday, looking forward to seeing you all.
