Vicky and Natalie's Adventures
We visited the salt flats in Uyuni...WOW! Just wait until we get the pictures on here! Since it was the rainy season (not that there was much rain except at night) the flats had a few inches of waer on them so it perfectly reflected the sky so you couldnçt tell where the land ended and the sky began. Ah, it was definately one of the highlights of the trip, if not the highlight so far. We had 2 jeeps between 9 of us and the other jeep kept breaking down which gave plenty of picture opportunities. They also managed to get stuck in the salt on the way back...not so good as it was pitch black and there was nobody around to help...we just had to push! After Uyuni we set of for Chile which involved driving through the Atacama desert. Awesome. It wasn't so sandy as we expected, but the lagoonas we passed were incredibly pretty. There were some thermal geysers too but they were very smelly! We had to camp over night and the boys made curry...yum! We're camping in San Pedro but at a cmapsite. Its a little town just over the border but already its much hotter. The town is really funky - very artesany, but also much more expensive - its quite European in price, rubbish! The border crossing was interesting. They made us take all our bags off the truck and went through them all. We had loads of fresh food we had to hide because we've got loads of camping coming up but luckily they only found the honey and some pineapple! Anyway, we got through alright...so here's to Chile!
