We flew from Kelowna to Vancouver arriving at about 2:45. Jean and I met up with Liz, Jean's sister for 2 hours and then we went through security to the international flight centre. We began boarding our 777-200ER at about 7pm and left on time at 8:00pm. About an hour into the flight, we were served dinner. I had curried beef, potato and basmati rice while Jean had chicken mushroom penne. Not too bad. Then we settled down to Jean watching a chick flick and me watching a series on flying over NZ. Quite an interesting show with lots of history thrown in. At about 12:00am settled down or at least tried to sleep. I was very restless for an hour but eventually slept until about 7:30am our time which was good considering the seats were not too comfortable. Got served egg omelet, 1 sausage ,yoghurt and orange juice for brekke. It was not too bad. Coffee really hit the spot and quite tasty. As I write this we are at 11,582 feet flying at 787km per hour and are 1 hour and 9 minutes from touchdown in Auckland. The time there is 4:30am and we will arrive at 5:38am which is well ahead of schedule. It is supposed to be raining there . I will purchase a SIM card for my iPhone and a package to allow us Internet and telephone service. We hav now passed over the international date line so it is Tuesday and we have bypassed Monday completely. The plane was not completely full as there was an empty seat in front of us. Gary and Sunni are sitting right behind us and are sitting next to a young lady from Wanganui which Is on the west coast near Mt Taranaki. Robert MacPherson, a young priest who is the son of Mal MacPherson lives there so if we get a chance we will drop into see him. As I recall it is quite a beautiful little village. Just filling in the entry forms required by customs when we get to NZ. Getting excited now although we will spend some time going through customs.
