G'day!
Today we visited the Blue Mountains National Park which is a 2 hour train ride from Sydney. When we arrived at Katoomba (a small village within the park) we took a hop-on hop-off bus to the main attractions. Our first stop was by Katoomba Waterfall, where we spent some time hiking the trails. It was beautiful and the views were spectacular. I want to live there, but I would be slightly concerned about the number of creepy crawlies! We saw 10 lizards just today, one of which was pretty big!
As well as hiking we rode the world's steepest railway down into the valley which was fun. It was a 206m vertical drop but it went nice and slowly. At the bottom of the valley we were able to walk through the rainforest and see the many Eucalyptus trees - the oils of which are responsible for the mountain's blue haze. A cable car took us back to the top where we made our way to Echo Point for the view of the Three Sisters.
Although it was a long and tiring day, the weather was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Tomorrow we are having a well earned day off as we plan our stops for the next few weeks.
Speak to you soon
