I dont know what was happening in hong Kong while we were there, but i tried booking a hotel a week b4 we were goin and there were hardly any avaliable! We had been told by other travelers that hong kong island was a good place to stay near central, but the only hotels avaliable were £65+ a night and minimum 3 nights stay!!! we managed to book a hotel on hong kong island for £35 on the west coast in a well dodgy area, but the hotel was ok.
What a place to visit, so busy buzzing and lively! some of the food places look a bit odd not at all like the chinese resturants back home. We went to the market where they sold chicken - but they were alive. u had to pick one they would pull it out the cage, slit its throat, chuck it in a plastic bin and place a piece of wood over the top. When the bin stopped moving they got the chicken out covered in blood washed it in the sink pulled the feathers out and put it in a bag. Talk about fresh! we got it so easy goin to asdas!
we done loads of sightseeing in a week, we went up to the highest point on the island 'the peak' by the tram just as it was getting dark and watched all the city lights coming on. we went to the avenue of stars which is like the walk of fame in LA but a lot cleaner! we went to ocean park, on the cable carts, to the fishing village, shopping. And watched the light show on the main island which was amazing!!!
