I absoloutely loved this town! I didn't like it at first because it had so many westerners around that it felt like it was too commercial especially as everywhere you turned there was more and more friends that was being played!
The first night that we arrived here we only had time for our bearings as during the day we had a 9/10 hour long bus journey (on a very small bus) but we kept ourselves entertained through cards and various out of tune sing songs. We also stopped off for something to eat on a mountain top and were able to take in the scenery. I have to say that the scenery in Loas is the most breathtaking that I have ever seen which was something else to help the time pass easily.
During the night of our first night there was a massive storm! And if any of you know how I sleep I normally sleep through anything! Vut our hut was shaking, the thunder cracking and the rain absoloutely pelted it down. To be honest I wasn't sure if I was dreaming untill I woke up and checked outside to see if it had been raining.
So we all managed to go and get some breakfast before we planned to go tubing. (Anyone that dosn't know that's going down the Mekong river in a rubber dounut and stopping of at bars on the way). But to put the fear right up us some of our group had decided to go immediately after the storm meaning that the current was a hell of alot stronger than it usually was so it was difficult for them top get out and one of them got swept down stream. Luckliy they managed to get out by our hotel. But as you can imagine being so small I was now frightened that I was also going to go flying down the river. So we waited a few more hours before we went up.
Even at the point of going up I was so unsure whether I wanted to do it or not, but I did and we all had our life jackets on just in case. As soon as I got on the water my fear vanished! It was so much fun and I'm so glad that I did it. Unfortunately Candy ended up going all the way to the end unable to stop at any bars, she was with others though who also didn't stop. But it wasn't quite the same without her.
The first bar that we stopped off at Kate and I decided just to have a small beverage and pointed to the glass of Vodka and coke, somehow we ended up with our first bucket! Yes it was literally a bucket that you make sandcastles in full of alcohol! It was so strong but I drunk it slowly and they gave us a free plate of chips. Then I really got into the swing of things. At the second bar we shared a bucket, swung on hammoks and played with a sling shot to shoot down cans. I had begginers luck her and knocked the first one off! So proud of myself especially as no one else seemed to be hitting any!
At our third and final bar we didn't drink anymore you'll be glad to here. I did do something though that normally I'd be s*** scared of doing. They had a swing / trapeze thing that you swung off into the river. I watched my friends do it frist untill I built up my confidence. As I am petrified of heights I still can't believe I actually done it! But I did and did it three times! It was so much fun! I think I'm slowly starting to get over my fears one by one.
We eventually left this final bar to make our way back to the tubing place to return our tubes before it got too late to get our deposits back. It was so chilled out justlying back taking in the amazing scenery! I definately recommend it to anyone! If we had an extra day here I'd definately do it again.
The evening also ended up turning into a bit of a drunken one! I had one more bucket : S and then managed to get a couple of free shots of whiskey! But not just any whiskey oh no! The whiskey bottles all had snakes inside them so it was snake whiskey! It was an experience I can tell you that!
